ZANACO Releases K500,000 For The 2019 EAZ Economic Summit

By BUUMBA CHIMBULU

ZANACO has handed over K500, 000 towards the hosting of the National Economic Summit to be held in July this year in Livingstone.

The summit is being organised by the Economic Association of Zambia (EAZ) under the theme ‘the future of economic diplomacy: Supporting Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development in Africa.’ Zanaco chief executive officer, Hank Mulder, said the bank’s strategic objective included contributing to the economic growth of Zambia.

He was speaking during the handover of the cheque in Lusaka yesterday. Mr Mulder said Zanaco identified itself with bringing together senior policy makers in Government and captains of industry to establish new and innovative ways of delivering economic development.

“Zambia is our home and in our strategy, our promise is to facilitate the growth of people, business, communities and economy.

“The discourse to be held at the debut national economic summit is imperative to realigning the government’s burden of developing the economy,” he said.

And EAZ president, Lubinda Habaazoka said Zanaco’s contribution would assist in the successful hosting of the event.

Dr Habaazoka said the summit would attract investors from different countries to come in and explore investment opportunities in Zambia. The summit will take place in Livingstone from July 25 to 26, this year.

The hosting of the summit, he said, was on course and was positive that it would be a success.

“The budget is huge. We have not yet raised enough. This is an international event and private sector led so that discussions occur without strings attached,” he said.

He said the function would be officially opened and closed by President Edgar Lungu.

Dr Habaazoka explained that the summit was designed to find solutions for the economy and a way forward.
