Earlier this week, had a privilege of visiting Camco who are in the process of becoming an EAZ Corporate member.
We were met by Camco Chairperson Mr Li Tie and Eng Bernard Chiwala. EAZ was represented by its President Dr Lubinda Haabazoka, EAZ Deputy National Secretary Mrs Rita Mkandawire and Executive Director Mirriam Nachilima.
Our area of interest at Camco was the agricultural equipment for small scale farmers that can be used to mechanise farming, especially in rural Zambia.
We were told that before going high tech, the Chinese Economic development model first graduated citizens from small scale farmers to big commercial farmers by designing easy to operate and repair farm equipment.
Zambian farmers have been on subsidies since independence, and most of them remain at small scale subsistence farming without any value addition.
Equipment inspected included peanut butter making machines, solar pumps, light farm tractors, incubators and equipment for fish farming among others.
For more details over the Chinese Economic development model, sign up for the upcoming National Economic Summit to be held in July at Hotel Avani.
The event will be graced by HE the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
Chinese investors will be in attendance to explain their Economic development model.
